LE ROI REMPLACE JÉSUS, ENSUITE DIEU
Louis XIII (1610-1643) donated the land for a church that announced obedience to the monarchy as the key to salvation: A king hovers over the street and though a saint, wears a crown instead of a halo.
Saint-Paul Saint-Louis in the neighborhood fashionable in the early 17th century (the "Marais" near the river in the 3rd district).
The Versailles chapel took the link even further. Instead of being represented by light, God is shown as a patriarch, like the king. His image is directly over the royal pew.
